I am a longtime woodworker and wood artist, creating commissioned furniture and art from reclaimed wood and found objects.

It's about Design

Simple, bold, elegant, one-of-a-kind. To own a piece from the FINN FURNITURE & ART collection is to turn your back on the mass-produced and generic. Rich in history, utterly unique, these are conversation pieces,  functional art, meant to be discussed—and like their owners—to stand out, to say something.

It's about the Wood

The checks, the cracks, the burns, the boot scuffs, nail holes, saw marksthe history.  Every board and piece of wood I use in FINN FURNITURE & ART was once part of a living, working Montana barn. Salvaged by myself or  in conjunction with Heritage Timber, I provide the history and providence of every board and found material I use.

It's about Pride

In craftsmanship, and ownership. My goal is to create a thing of beauty, one that will endure. Each piece of FINN FURNITURE & ART is hand-crafted with an eye toward detail, authenticity, and the knowledge that the owner must be able to live with it day-in, day-out—and never tire. I feel good creating these pieces, each and every one brings me joy. I am confident they will do the same for you.

Found Objects

My sculptures are from found objects in the environment, primarily wood and stone, often from near my home in Havre, MT. I look for interesting shapes, curves, and bends — whatever calls out to me — walking the badlands or the shores of Fresno Resivoir, or scanning the riverbanks of the Milk River with its dead cottonwoods and aspen. Often I'll spot something I walked past before, seeing it from a new angle or with a new thought in mind. I try to work my finds as little as possible, grinding away only what's needed to let the wood reveal what it wishes, what it cares to show it has hidden inside.
